Should you always ask for Concessions?

When making an offer if the seller counters with a price with no concession is it smarter to offer a higher price to include concession? I rather just put my down payment down and that's it. What are your thoughts? I'd like to keep as much cash to myself as possible.

In many cases, the cleaner the offer, the better.
