Advice with Sheriff deed

We have won a bid on Auction.com and the property currently ends up having a sheriffs deed by a different company than the mortgage company. Does anyone have any experience with sheriff deeds? If we recieve clear title from the bank who the contract is with, will we have new ownership of the property or will the current owners with the sheriffs deed get to keep it? Just worried this deal won't go through because someone else bought it at a sheriffs auction and got a sheriffs deed. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan
