Last Minute / End of the year Investments? Are people looking?

A few years ago I had a client who was mad dashing looking for something to invest before the end of the year? We tried to find him something and we couldn't come to final terms.

I am curious as to why he was so hell bent on inviting before the end of year? Any ideas? Was he trying to hide earnings? Gain tax benefits? Shift profits from his LLC to something else to avoid taxation?

I was hoping someone would know and if people are out there on BP looking to do the same thing? I am generally curious if this is a viable strategy or not.

Thank you all.
