Property next door to me foreclosed...I think...
Hello all,
So the property that is directly next door to me has been abandoned for approximately 2 - 3 years now. Couple had a bad divorce and the interior is actually kind of a mess.
That said, the property is NOT listed anywhere that I can see and comparable homes are around $350,000. I believe Zillow has it estimated value at around $250,000.
I think I've found the bank...is it wise to try and move in on this property that's directly next to me? I'm thinking about buying and flipping. If the new owners have an issue, will that make things awkward?
Thanks in advance! This is in Long Island, New York

@Tom Chen: as a lawyer that does a lot of foreclosure work in PA and some work in NY, my guess is that you will have difficulty reaching out to Wells Fargo directly. I think your best bet is to do what @Steve Babiak suggests and see if you can contact the attorney that handled the foreclosure. Now if it is Wells Fargo, it may have hired a larger "foreclosure mill" law firm. If that's the case, it's often difficult get hold of a lawyer from that firm---mainly due to the volume of work they handle. One possible solution is to talk to your lawyer contacts to see if they can put you in touch with a lawyer from the firm.
