Non-permitted Bathroom in Texas
I'm looking at buying a house in Texas that is listed as a 3 bedroom/ 1bathroom, but it clearly has 2 bathrooms. The realtor I contacted about it said it was an 'unpermitted bathroom'. I went back through previous listings, and it was always listed as a 3/1. I have run into unpermitted bedrooms/additions in California where the code enforcement is much more stringent than in Texas, but I haven't dealt with this in Texas. My question is, in Texas, will anything come back to bite me about this bathroom if I decide to sell it in the future as a 3/2 (assuming all the work was done to code, just without a permit being pulled)? The tax assessor just reports square footage, so would anyone even know it used to be a 3/1, except for from old listings?
Thanks in advance

Varinder Kumar if it not permitted you cant listed at 2/3.
It not hard to get a permit. If you get a nice inspector he will check quality of work and decide if you need to open any walls.
Head to building dept. say i purchase a house that has a unpermitted bathroom. I would like a consultation inspection on what needs yo be done to bring it up to code.
Good luck.
