Hello BP, I was just informed my closing will be delayed because the previous owner has not paid taxes on the property for the past three years. How will this affect me? Will I still be able to close? Will I be held responsible for the unpaid taxes? Thanks for the help!

Hi Julian, don't worry, you'll be fine assuming the seller can cover them with their proceeds. The title company should be handling everything for you in regards to notifying the seller and making sure the money is collected and paid. Most County auditor websites will have tax information regarding if the account is current. May want to check that website next time early in the process so it doesn't come as a surprise. Best of luck although I can't imagine the house appraising for much or ever appreciating much seeing as its located in Michigan...GO BUCKS!!!
