Not trying to start a political battle but Indiana is very second amendment friendly. A lifetime conceal and carry permit is $150. Most investors here in indy I deal with and myself included carry more often than not when going to houses vacant or not. At least some pepper spray. Especially in the rougher areas. That's what I'd tell my wife or sister anyway. Also, text a friend with where you are if you feel unsure.
