0 down payment?

Someone i work with is telling me he got approved for 150k on a home in our area.  this is is first home.  the home is a foreclosure.  He told me the loan office said it should not be a problem getting this loan with 0 down and and have credit scores in mid 600's.

Is this even possible or does this guy just not know what he is talking about.

I haven't heard of an actual lender giving zero down loans in a long time. 

I have a close friend that told me he put 0 down on his first home with his wife (he has a good credit score).

I repeatedly asked him how that was possible. I still don't believe it to be true, but maybe I'm just missing something. 0 down is possible but I don't see it happening with a conventional lender.
