Quality Quality Quality.....NOT

I figured I would take even the smallest of action and take my daughter to check out some open houses.  A little bonding time, and start to learn my market. We also sometimes watch the "shows" together, and talk about what we would do to the flips. She's 10 by the way.

First house turns out to be a flip. Bought in January 2016 for $730k, listed today after rehab for $1,099,000. This happens to be Huntington Beach CA, prime real estate. I'm a contractor and like to think I have a good eye, but.........

We walk in, we're greeted by the agent, and start to browse.  I immediately felt uncomfortable because everywhere I looked for a quality finish I couldn't find it. Nail holes in the trim were filled with caulking, maybe, the drywall texture was as consistent as the weather, apparently there was no more paint on earth, a nice sharp cut tile nosing at a bath tub. I digress, but not before the best part. My ten year old daughter whispers to me, "Dad, the paint job is terrible".

Before I even thought about investing, or discovered BP I figured flipping is exactly this. In, out, who cares? Then I heard the podcast with J. Scott and his insistence on quality. That was huge for me.

Just wanted to share.

BP rules!

@Neal Burgess you missed your calling in life to be a writer on Comedy Central. And, yep, @J Scott's podcast interview was great. You should read his book on flipping too.
