selling my house to my renter

So, I told my tenant that I will putting the house on the market and they will need to move out soon. They expressed interest in buying the place, we came together on a price, and they began to pursue a mortgage. (Financing through me is not an option). Well, once June gets here it will be 4 months that they have been trying to do this. Is this a reasonable amount of time? They have no credit history, income is limited, I'm kind of surprised they found a mortgage broker that would even talk to them. I have talked to the broker and a title company they were using so it seems legit. Last I heard, the broker said they hit a "snag", and he is transferring all the documentation to another financing source.
