Want to invest in NEW YORK, I am a beginer

So I am new to this world and want to invest in New York, at the moment it seems difficult to get into the 5 boroughs in NYC. I am open to other nearby states, but I was looking forward to some sort of advice or investment partner with more experience. I will highly appreciate anyone's input or response, especially if you reside in New York like myself.
