I am looking at a 7 unit multi-family in northern CT. Current owner inherited the property from her father. Currently the property does not have a sprinkler system. If I were to purchase this property would I have to update the fire system with sprinklers? Fire doors? Anything else?

Hello Michael. I am very new to BP yet a life long resident of Ct. Given My extensive background in the Building Trades and to the best of my knowledge Ct fire code dose not require you to add sprinklers if they are not already in place. You may however need to install Fire Doors with a 90 min fire rating within each unit as well as Exit signs, Stair way, and Security lighting in all halls or hallways. It is alway best to check with the Fire Marshal in which ever city you plan on purchasing.. They are always more than happy to assist and it will alway save you the headaches that are sure to arise in the event that the structure is not up to code. Hope this helps Good luck.
