Source for finding homes/rental properties

From some initial reading/research, it sounds like MLS is a poor source in finding homes for investing. Anyone have suggestions in how/where I should start in tracking down some properties that I could buy and rent them out for passive income? Local clubs? Online forums? Is Craigslist an option in finding sellers?
