Buy and hold purchase: before or after the new year?

I'm pleased to say that I have found a single family home to purchase as my first intentional buy and hold. Thanks to bp for all the help and motivation.

My question is this: we are expecting to be able to close early next week, is that a good strategy or do I wait until the new year to close?

quick details on the house:

2 bed

1 bath

1300 sqft, full basement

2 car detached garage

$13500 purchase price

$2500 repair estimate

$450-500 estimated rent

Thanks for the input
