Home built in 1890
I'd like to get some opinions on flipping a home that was built in 1890.
Before you answer, please know that this home is in Waukesha County, Wisconsin where home values are higher and there is a good bit of new construction that is making this area desirable. The exterior of the home is stone from a local quarry, the roof is newer, all new windows, and it has a nice lot with a two car garage and an outbuilding. The inside is the issue. It needs a total gut job. There is an addition for the kitchen on the back and a three season room/porch on the front - all well done. The 18" thick exterior walls are now interior walls due to the additions. The rooms are small and the stairway to the second level is treacherous. Is this property worth the hassle of dealing with some of these major issues if the asking price is $150k below what other (older) homes in the area are going for?
