If you were just starting with investing, where would you start?

I have recently saved 20,000 for a down payment, and I am curious what others would do? I originally was thinking of a single family home, but now I am thinking of buying one maybe two foreclosed condos. My goal is to keep accumulate properties and use the snowball effect on the mortgages. This will be my first property, so I welcome all suggestions and constructive criticism.
