Anyone in Chicago area buy a condo without an attorney

I am a first time investor thinking to buy a condo in chicago. Upon research, i found out that the contract needs to be examined by an attorney which can cost $600

Anyone buy a property in chicago without an attorney or know why an attorney is needed?

Also if there are any alternatives to hire an attorney, i am guessing not

Technically you dont need an attorney to close in Illinois

But its necessary otherwise the seller's attorney will work you over.  I've seen it many times. You might save the $600, but you will pay double that in fees typically charged to the seller or split between parties.  Its sneaky but hey, how would you know?

You can find some that charge between $400-$600 and I KNOW its 100% worth it.

Good luck!
