Any way to find eviction history for specific properties?

Hey guys,

As a REI just starting out, one strategy I've been considering is to look for landlords who are having a hard time with tenants, and offering them the easy way out -- monthly payments to transfer ownership to me. This strategy would allow me to get in for very little cash down. I've got a little bit of an advantage in this respect because I've worked previously as a property manager. I'm confident that I can find great tenants by really hustling. This would be a 6 month strategy to build a small portfolio of properties I'm making payments on, which would allow me to convince potential investors I have now to invest with me.

My question is -- is there a way to find out the the eviction history for each property? If I could go through a neighborhood, and find out there's been six evictions in the last three years, then I know that landlord is probably sick of the experience, and would be happy to hand it off to me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Tomorrow morning I'm calling the local district courts to ask them.
