County Appraisal Questions

Hi BP Family,

Ever notice those appraisals the County Assessor provides on real estate in order to tax you? I've always wondered if that county-appraised value is something I should be looking at when valuing a potential investment. Like maybe I'm overpaying if I'm paying more than the county-appraised value. Any thoughts? Also, why are the appraisals from the county so vastly different from the appraisals performed by, for example, an FHA appraiser?

Thanks in advance!
