Auction.com - HELP???

I have bought properties before with Auction.com, but here is a new situation I'm in.  So, it looks like the property went to Sheriff Sale ($96,000) on September 11.  Four days later an investment company received a Quit Claim Deed ($1,000) from the owners (the owners prior to the sheriff sale).  I won the bid from Auction.com ($70,000) today, but now I have someone representing the investment company saying my bid is not valid because there is a redemption period and there is "no way they will let the property go back".  Is this true? Who really owns the property, the bank or the investment company?
