Moving to new location

My husband and I are moving to a new state.  He is currently self employed but when we move he is closing his business and looking for a job.  He may look for something in the same field (remodeling) if he has to, but would rather look for something else.  Since he will be going from self employed to an employed status would we have to start the clock over (the 2 year rule) before we can buy a house, or would we be able to within a year of moving to the new location (we are selling our townhome)?  Also, would he be able to get a job in a whole different field or would it have to be similar to what he was doing when he was self employed.  Thank you!
