Wholesaling instead of Flipping

I'm new to real estate investing. I initially wanted to flip houses to build up some cash to buy homes cash so that I can rent them out for rental income. I explored the real estate opportunities in my market to see what was presented in the way of viable properties for flipping and couldn't find anything. I was largely unsuccessful in finding a property where flipping would work due to the cost analysis I was using to determine if a property could be flipped or not. I'm now going to try wholesaling properties. Does any have any tips or advice?
