Bids made vs accepted bids

I have bought one house and in the process of buying another. The first house was the 2nd place I bid on, and the one I'm currently in the processing of buying was the first. Something tells me my agent and I are not being aggressive enough.

What is your bids made vs accepted bids ratio? One of the podcasts (I believe #44) featured a man who said he made 4-5 bids for everyone that was accepted. If all your bids are accepted (like in my case) it seems that I am bidding too high.
