sending written offers on every lead?

It has been suggested to me that sending a written offer on every property regardless of how far apart on price you and the seller are is a good idea. I want to start sending more offers via mail but I'm wondering what is the best way to do this. For anyone who does this with success I would appreciate any feedback. What do you include with the contract to justify the offer? a written letter? low comp sold properties etc? Thanks, Sam
