Split Levels - Love Them or Hate Them?

When I see a split level, I personally reduce the properties value. I don't mean what its actual value is, I mean that to me, I just don't like it as much as a none split level. There are SOOO abundant in the puget sound. Maybe that's another reason I don't like them, they are ferkin everywhere. What are some other opinions on them?
