Building Inspections from Long Distance

I've been looking at doing some deals on foreclosed by owner properties in another state than where I live.  Does anyone have experience in terms of the building inspection from abroad?  I'd like to know how I can setup an inspection and trust that it is legit without necessarily having to be present at the property.  Is this too risky?  Advice welcomed, thanks.
