Orange County California Showing Up For BiggerPockets.com

I was lucky enough to speak at the OCREIA meeting last Thursday night in Orange County, CA. For me, it was a huge success to get a chance to make a presentation based on education. I don't know if they bring in paid, sell your crap at the back of the room and Saturday paid session B.S. speakers, but it was a real pleasure to get to attend a REIA where the attendees were mostly active investors, they looked to genuinely like being there and the content shared by the three different groups that night was heavy on content and light on fluff.

Kathleen Kramer did an excellent job going over economic data. Two sisters who are part owners and operators of a passive investment company named Focus Investments Group, LLC gave a great presentation on four deals they partnered with other investors on in 4 different cities. They had to get creative in the deals and I was impressed and even told them that they did a great job of connecting with the room. I've already checked out their site for possible future partnership.

Then I got to present and about halfway through the presentation I talk about BiggerPockets.com and I ask the room to raise their hands if they have heard of or are already active on the site.  Easily 75% of the room raised their hands and many of the investors in the room raved about the site.  Congratulations @Joshua Dorkin , @Brandon Turner , @Scott Trench , @Allison Leung and the rest of your team Josh.  This thing is taking off and every time we mention the site during a presentation, the number of hands that go up in a room seems to grow and the excitement in the way people talk about their experience with the site grows as well.

Lastly, to the investors that came out last Thursday, thank you and congratulations. That is a well-run REIA meeting and I think I heard that Darren Blomquist of Realtytrac is speaking next month, which is almost worth the cost of the airline ticket for me to come back for! I know California traffic is ridiculous especially in that area, but if you can make it, you really need to try. It will be a huge value for you to surround yourself with high quality investors and their influence.
