Mortgage Grace Period

Hey BP Nation, I have a question that is probably pretty silly for experienced investors, but I'm in the process of selling my first investment property, my mortgage payment is due on October 1st.  We will probably close on this property sometime before the 15th.  I'd like to avoid making this mortgage payment, in a effort to not pay the interest.

Is there a grace period on monthly mortgage payments, or does anyone have any suggestions on how best to handle this, or should I just bite the bullet and make the payment.

Thanks in advance.
