Realization of capital gain on selling my home

I sold my home several years back and am holding the mortgage secured bond for the ramainder. I paid my capital gains tax on the portion of the selling price collected. Obviously if I receive the remainder of the sales price I will "realize" the rest of the capital gain, but what if I were to sell the bond to a third party? If it were for cash I would presumably also "realize" the gain, BUT what if I sell it for stock in some company? Does that delay the realization till I sell the stock?
