Hello,

I am a new investor looking to purchase my first duplex near the uptown area in dallas texas. I would like to live in one side and rent the other. I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance.

Thank You

By Uptown I imagine you are speaking of Lemmon/Cole, West Village, Knox Street etc? I never thought of that as a duplex type neighborhood. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it's mostly condo/townhome type buildings.

Yes somewhere within a few mile radius of the area (5 to 10 miles). I am brand new to the area and looking for a good spot to live rent free by renting the other half of a duplex out.

I see. In Dallas, a lot can happen in 5 miles....heck ,my neighborhood is awesome, but 1 mile from here....major difference.

If you are thinking duplex consider east Dallas, north of I-30.

I am curious about a brand new duplex being built in either Collin or Denton Counties. Do the brand new ones being built do well as investments in the northern suburbs?

Jimmy,

It would all depend on the price and rental income. I'm curious to know where these new builds are happening in Collin and Denton county? Regarding uptown i am not sure if there are duplexes, but condos are everywhere.
