I thought I would share this informative article from Paragon about Bay Area rents and prices over time. Interesting data for the conversation about SF properties as a source of capital preservation, and significant (fairly reliable) appreciation. If you see the last chart, that's why I like the lower-price point, lower-income area properties. The discounts are much deeper. And they tend to go up a lot more on a percentage basis, although not as reliably IMHO.
