Questions about laundry emergency pipe in the garage

Hi All,

I'm from North Caroline. I noticed in the brand new townhome that there is a pipe sticking out of the wall inside the garage. I mentioned the issue to the builder and they found out that that pipe is the laundry emergency pipe. The laundry room is on the second floor. The pipe is not pulled out of the house, it is inside the garage. The builder mentioned the inspector is ok with it. But I'd like to know if it is necessary to ask them to redirect the pipe out of the house. What potential issue will it have if they don't get the pipe out of the garage?

Thanks,

Karen
