Vacation home loan and primary residence use
We own land that we are planning to build on in another state and move to when I retire around 18 months from now. A reputable lender we were referred to recommended we obtain a vacation home loan, as that allows our current income to be considered, which will be higher than our income once we move and lower our DTI. My question is how long does the house have to be used as a vacation home before it can be used as a primary residence? The lender said there is not a time limit, that we could use it as a primary residence immediately, which sounds sketchy to me. Thanks for any info.
