Sometimes people order subscriptions for data, information, services and later decide not to renew. Since most subscription are auto renew, it's difficult to prevent an unwanted renewal and you're stuck trying to get your money back.

What I have learned to do

My credit card allows me to make a temporary one use credit card number for just such a situation.

I use the one time number to order and then it can not be used again in the future. I keep control of what I order.
