I'm an Agent/Investor from Pittsburgh, PA and I'm purchasing a property in NY. Am I required to hire an attorney to write up the contract and assist with the closing? I keep reading different things online. Here in PA anyone can write up a contract and submit it to a title company and they will handle everything.

In New York, attorneys write the contracts. You submit a letter of intent to get the property, do inspections first in New York after your offer is accepted, and after inspections are resolved, your attorney then writes the contract. Attorneys in NY also handle title, escrow, and closing.
