Repeat Buyer Getting Married to First Time Home Buyer-Grants/Assistance Available?

Kirsten Sharp
Posted

My fiance and I are looking to purchase our first home together. I am not a first-time homebuyer and he is. With our income combined we can afford the homes in our area and further out, however separated we can't. I was told by a lender that it is possible to qualify for first-time homebuyer grants/assistance due to him still be a FTHM and still using my income to assist with the home purchase. Has anyone heard of this? If not, are there other grants or down payment assistance programs for people who are repeat buyers? We still live in the home I purchased however I will sell it once we decide to move. Advice, please.
