How can I afford college at 17

Ashton Hamlin
Posted

Hello, my name is Ashton and I’m going to college next year. I’ve been interested in finance for 3-4 years and I’m sure it’s something I want to continue in college. However, the college I want to go to is the American University of Paris, which charges quite a lot for the experience it’s providing. The reason I want to go here is because my girlfriend is going and I want to travel, and this is an experience of a life time. I want to learn a 3rd language and if I can do so by experiencing another country, I don’t want to pass on it. I also don’t want to wait to travel till I’m 60. The tuition costs about €17k per semester with about 8-11k in housing costs. I want to do everything I can to pay for it or not be punished significantly by the debt in my life later.

With all that information, is there anything I can do in real estate with no money? I recently read the introduction book “How to invest in real estate” and I’ve been inspired by the strategies and the stories, but can I actually replicate these? I don’t want a get rich quick scheme, I am willing to put in the work to learn and make money. Is there anyway to buy and sell real estate from afar? Can I flip houses in the summers that I’m back in the States? Should I just be patient and wait to invest in real estate later?

I would like to know if I can make any of this possible, and any perspective or feedback would be beneficial. Thank you.
