Clarifying real estate commissions for buyers (CALIF)
3 times today I was asked this question and probably a couple times per month I get this, which means there are a lot of people who never ask! So let me clarify.
GENERALLY, UNLESS IT IS DISCLOSED UPFRONT OR THERE ARE SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH IS RARE, BUYERS DO NOT PAY ANY COMMISSIONS WHEN AGENTS ASSIST THEM IN FINDING A PROPERTY. TO BE EXTRA CLEAR, USING A BUYERS AGENT IS FREE TO BUYERS, BUYERS AGENTS EARN THEIR COMMISSION FROM SELLERS FOR BRINGING THE BUYER, THE SELLER PAYS THE COMMISSION.
