Denver REI Clubs???
Hi there!
Just moved to Denver from Chicago and looking to hop on board with a good REI club. Any fellow Denver folk know of anything? I'm living in the Wash Park area.
Thanks!

Ok James (and anyone else new to Denver),
Here are some of my perspectives on the Denver REI clubs that I have attended. I'll preface this response with my opinion, all evaluations of my evaluations are based on three things.
1: Who is sponsoring the meeting?
It's obviously important to understand how the sponsor stands to benefit from holding a meeting. This is, with very good reason, the motivation behind sponsoring a club. I tend to believe that almost everyone in Denver who sponsors a club/association/meeting is doing it both because he/she has something that they are proud to offer, and because they see the value of networking. One caveat, if the club presents a speaker who is selling a product/products the large majority of the time, I would infer that to be their motivation, some of the products can be great, but as you have heard time and again, all of the information that you need to succeed can be found on BP...
2: What is the topic?
Any club can have a great topic for any of us, depending on where we are in our investing career, at a given time. There are no meetings that I have attended where I got nothing out of the presentation. We have so many opportunities to attend meetings, I think picking and choosing topics that make sense to your current business model is important. Bottom line - review what is offered, then prioritize based on your/your business needs and your available time.
3: Who are the attendees?
This is the most important point to me personally and to our business. I have met a lot of people at our local groups who have brought me to amazing deals, and furthered our business, in ways that I could not have imagined...
Almost every meeting in the metro Denver area (and anywhere else, I would imagine) will have someone that you could network with that can help you, and that you can help (after all, everything comes full circle - you might bring someone a deal today, who will reciprocate in 5 years with a deal that will retire you from a day job...literally).
I'll post again with specific clubs.
