Lompoc, California: real estate opportunity

Good afternoon team, I'm new to bigger pockets but just moved to Lompoc, CA (work related). Thinking about investing in a town-home here in Lompoc due to my commute to work - Can anyone provide me insight on rather its a good idea or not to invest in a property in Lompoc, CA. I'm open to here any suggestions you may have, I know nothing about this city - but have been doing research - the only caveat is, I am limited to branching out due to location and pricing, but want to get out of the "renting option" and start investing in myself for the future.
