"Property Brothers" type approach to REI

Is anyone doing this successfully? You know the show on HGTV, Property Brothers where they help a couple find a distressed home ( one of the brothers is a realtor) to buy, draw up plans and turn it into their dream home. Just thought this might be another creative niche in the REI world, kind of similar to flipping but already have a buyer in place and use their money for the purchase/reno!
