Investing Out of State Tips

I'm looking at investing entirely out of state many time zones away from my residence. Other than having a solid RE team does any one have any tips or tricks regarding communication and organization to improve the overall situational awareness of projects that are directed from afar? Like lynch pin, stuff that some think are obvious but not so much to newbies like myself? Any inputs would be helpful…
