Buying a property recently bought from tax auction?

I got a call from a guy saying he has a property for sale that he recently bought off a tax auction ( about a month ago) and he wants to sell it. He originally bought it for his son because he wanted to get him into fix and flip real estate. He says the his son doesn't seem like hes going to be doing anything with it and now he wants to sell for what he got it for. He says he can sit down with me and show me all the paperwork from the sale.

Only thing is we can't close at a title company it because of a "redemption period". I guess my question is, could that be an actual reason to not close at a title company? I am not familiar with tax auctions here in Houston, Tx and trying not to get stuck with a home that has title issues. Thanks in advance.
