Looking at purchasing mobile home but seller does not have title. Mobile will need to moved. I read a little about talking with the DMV but I'm curious if someone has actually gone through the process.

Thanks.

Yes, the DMV does not regulate mobile homes in TX. The regulating body in TX for MHs is TDHCA Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. They also went away from the title system and use an SOL ( Statement of Location).  They will advise you on what you need in order to be able to transfer ownership .  They most likely have specific info on the home in their files and it will need to be determined how the current owner has ownership ( if that is not what is on file) . They are pretty helpful but in my experience , there always seems to be hurdles and obstacles so what could take a month can be dragged out to several ( or even longer) .  Good luck
