Process to develop a mobile home park

Daniel Kim
Posted

I am a contractor and real estate agent in the Southern California area.

I've recently met an investor who is interested in developing 35 acres of vacant land into a mobile home park in Lancaster, CA.  Does anyone have any experience in developing one in this area?  We may be looking for some potential partnerships as well.

Thank you!

Hey Daniel,

I own six communities in Western states but I stay away from Blue states because of the rental laws.

With that said I have expanded a community and am very familiar with Lancaster because that is where my grandparents lived most of my life.

I suggest looking at areas near transit hubs and seeing what grants/subsidies are available to help build. I believe HUD has also started lending to communities for long-term financing.

I paid for my park expansion through a credit union.

If you are going to own and build in California especially Lancaster you will want to make sure you get some benefit for being in that location otherwise I would suggest building somewhere more favorable as an owner.
