Best way to gain followers and colleagues on here?

Just wondering because i want to get involved with more people and gain some active followers! just any tips would be fine. Thanks guys

You know I do not worry about colleagues and followers all the years I have been on here. I do like connecting with people but it's not a main concern.

Just be yourself and share with others and BE AUTHENTIC. Do not try and be something you are not as people will see through you quick.

What I see as the WRONG WAY to come on Bigger Pockets is post as a new poster and say things like " My company is XYZ real estate. Come on over to this spam link I inserted and sign up for a list I will pester you with all the while not providing any valuable info or posting any great information to Bigger Pockets "

That is what they are really saying. You know if you share accurate knowledge freely with the expectation of nothing in return you would be amazed how many people check your profile, go to your sites in your link signature, give you business , build trust with you, etc.

I can never understand why a company or person spams and then provides nothing. If a person says they have funded 100 million loans then go through case studies on this site in topics or write some blogs etc. Show people that you are telling the truth and have experience to share and connect with others.

When you ask people to share experience many people all of the sudden vanish like a ghost from their first post. It's okay when you come on here to say " I don't know what I don't know". I can tell you there is a ton I do not know but I love searching for the answers.

In regards to people investing money or coming to me for business I take it very seriously. In many cases these are people's life savings and one wrong investment decision can put their retirement plan and hopes and dreams down the toilet. If you are doing any level of connecting or business with anyone you should expect a high level of service and attention to your partnership together. If you are not getting that you have  a huge red flag.

Absolutely agree with Joel Owens.

While I'm not a BP veteran by any measure, in the short time I've been a part of the community I've been astounded by the number of folks who blow into a forum only when it benefits them...."call me, I have properties in that area"....."hit me up, this is right up my alley"...."you're in luck, I'll email you the numbers right now".   The rest of the time it's like listening to a seashell.

I understand it's a business, but the way to succeed is not to always take, take, take.  Share your good ideas (without giving away the secret recipe (Dawn A.).  Theory is good, but specifics are better.

I'm so impressed by the men and women on BP who are tremendously successful but take the time to share what they know, provide specific examples from their own dealings, and take a genuine interest in everyone's questions - with no thought to, "what can I get out of this".  Success will continue to follow them because  they are the true professionals.

I started not too long ago and have started to get people following me, which is the ultimate compliment.

1. Be respectful - others may have different opinions as you
2. Participate - become active in the community
3. Be helpful - its okay to keep trade secrets to yourself like the KFC secret herbs and spices, but help out newbies when you can because everyone was a newbie at one time

Lots of good tips above.  I second welcoming new members.  Give as much as you can without expecting anything in return, the return has a way of coming to you anyway.

Ask questions.  You don't have to know everything to be highly social.    And be patient.  It took a while for BP to directly make me money, but that will come, too.  Consider organizing a PB meetup in your area.

Jared Smith Don't let that be your focus, let learning be your goal. I don't even know what followers are! The best thing to do, is PARTICIPATE in the forums, give thoughtful answers or post well thought out questions you want answered.

Also, if you see someone that is working a niche you are interested in, or ? don't be shy about sending a colleague request. By the way, I sent you one. Welcome to BP!

This is an interesting point.  I believe there have been some on Bigger Pockets who have connected financially, however I have not.  (Mainly because I have had other investors and avenues to get my funding.)  But it really is critical to treat your investors with respect, and pay every payment on time, because they are getting you to where you want to be!
