Newbie Investors at last BP Con? What did you learn?

Any first time/newbie RE investors attend the last BP Con? I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially if you learned anything from the panels/breakout sessions! 

Any newbies planning to attend this year's BP Con? I'd love to attend, and am seriously considering it, but it'll be quite an expense (flying out from California) and I'll have to arrange elder care for my mom. So while I'd LOVE to attend for the networking, the coordination it'll take me to attend is significant. I'd be interested to know if there are solid educational opportunities or if it's more of a networking/inspirational event.
