Do You Want Your Blog Post on BiggerPockets to be Highlighted?
I thought it was important to share a few tips that would come in handy for those of you who are blogging on the BiggerPockets Member Blogs network. The main reasons most people blog is to get visibility for themselves, to build their own community, to share knowledge, and/or to get traffic back to their website via links.
That said, we try to keep a high standard for those posts we're going to highlight and keep on the main page of our blog platform and those that we highlight in our weekly newsletter (60,000+ subscribers now).
Here are a few tips to help you have your blog post highlighted:
- Make sure your article is informative and not merely some kind of promotional piece
- Don't open your blog post with a line or paragraph promoting your website or blog. Save the byline for the footer.
- Don't overload the article only with links back to your own blog/website
- Link out to sources that you're citing.
- Make sure your article is original.
- Cover topics that not everyone else online is covering.
The bottom line is that if it appears to us that the only reason you're writing on BP is to send traffic to your site instead of posting high-quality content designed to engage your peers on BP, we're not likely going to highlight it.
