BP Update 6.6: Closed Social Networking & Major Dashboard Updates

We just deployed a HUGE update to BiggerPockets, which will change the way you connect and communicate via our network.

For 7+ years, our site has been a destination for open networking via our forums. All questions and answers have been public, and available for non-members to see. When we added a blogging platform to the site, we continued the trend of building our open network.

Between the blogs and our forums, BiggerPockets has grown as a massive repository of information, and as an incredible place to network.

One comment that has come up from our users through surveys and via email over the past few years is that they wish there was a way to use the site to communicate with their networks in a more private manner. They understood the value of our Private Messaging function, but wanted more.

We listened and have brought that to you today!

Introducing the New BiggerPockets Dashboard

Our new Dashboard is not only sleeker, but it allows you to connect directly with your networks like on other major social networks.

Features Include:
- As before, you can still see a feed of activity of your colleagues and those users you follow (new blog posts, new property listings, etc.)

- You can now post status messages for either your colleagues or your colleagues and followers. These status messages are NOT visible to the public. Additionally, you can attach links or image to your status to share with your community.

- We've removed status messages from user profiles, forum signatures, and blog sidebars to increase member privacy.

- The Community Activity feed has a universal scroll, where you can keep going back in time. We've also added this feature to the Forum Activity tab in the dashboard, removing the constraints of pagination to see past forum threads.

We've got some great plans that will take these features and make them even better in the near future. If you're having any problems, please don't hesitate to let us know about them.

This is exciting! I'm getting ready to tinker with the colleague community so apologies in advance if I mess up!

I already noticed the universal scroll which I love. At first I thought something was wrong with the page!
