Not a day goes by when 1/2 dozen people come to our forums and just get it wrong. They ignore protocol, they spam, or they do one of a dozen other things that don't fly here (or on most other credible forums). I found an incredible article today that I thought all new and experienced users of our forums should check out from forum expert, Patrick O'Keefe.

Take a few minutes and read it!

I can't imagine that spamming has a very high success rate.

In my experience it is more worthwhile to build creditability by sharing what you know and engaging others.

I look at spamming in the same way as the person that goes to a networking event with the intent only to sell a product or service. Generally this is a real turn off at least to me and probably leads to few leads. It is my opinion that few people want to work with those that they don't know, like or trust. A spammer has done nothing to build any of these attributes.

In my experience if you genuinely try to help others succeed and share what you can, you are much more likely to have a receptive audience. I think it is part of the reason that paying it forward works.
